How to burn a Doctoral Dissertation

Many months away from the Dissertation Document, I was unable to write one single word. Some days willing to defeat and forget the nightmare of being confronted with a document which looks like a mess of ideas and proposals.

Two weeks ago I had a session with Dr. Reniu, in which we agreed some goals, as to have a first version at the end of January 2014.

He gave me final recommendations on what to change in the setup of the document, but for the first time I was not requested to add more pages.

I have, even, decorated the cover page!

Some days in Poland

This is the last of ten days in Poland.

I wonder how long will it take untill the end of their construction bubble. All along the country you can see a number of cranes, new (cheap constructed) buildings, and shops with fournitures and supplies for the house.

I wish them that the authorities cope with their responsibility of protecting t'he citizens front an uncontrolled raise of the prices which is only in benefit of the specularors

this time the title is the right one, since we are having holidays in Germany.

Already two months unable to write one single word in the doctoral document..... I will throw the key to the river

170 pages

Yesterday I reached the page number 170

The pages are full of tables and graphs.

In total, 108 tables and 53 graphs, and still growing.

My problem is in writing, comenting the tables and graphs, and adding value to the document.

I will simply go ahead, and wait until the review to complete teh basic ideas which are already in the text

Second writting, more simple than second life

I'm in the second round, correcting what already was corrected some months ago.

Well, in fact what I'm doing is avoiding short sentences, because the first version was a kind of Doctoral Dissertation for Twitter.

I'm working for connecting chapters with content which makes understandable why I'm moving, and not jumping, from one thing to the next one.

Today I reached the page 160. When I had 100 written pages, I thought that 200 was an affordable number, but 100 pages of connectors is not that easy !

speeding up, but not boosting

Since once a week I have a teacher reviewing the text, in order to translate from my english into proper english, I'm advancing in two senses:

- Finishing open chapters, because of the need of having materials for reviewing
- Correcting the texts after reading with a third person, for the first time since I started writing.

I had a check meeting with the Thesis Director, where I received some hints:

- Graphs and tables big enough to be readable
- Standard style for all tables and graphs in terms of organization, colors and structure
- How to title the tables and the graphs
- The need of adding more text in order to avoid short phrases, cable style (the dissertation will not be broadcasted in Twitter !)

So, two tasks:

- Finishing open chapters
- Re-writing the finished ones.

The theoretical approach, word by word

One day, one word; one more day, one more word.

I know this is not the highest performance that I should deliver but, aside from expectations, this are the facts.
Because of the theory, I became a sleeping student.
In two days I will start working with a teacher of English, in order to correct the text, the spelling and the speaking, so my presentation would sound as it is written.
Well start with sessions of 1,5 hours a week. I dont know whether this will be enough. I would like to have an average speed of ten pages per session.

Three impacts are expected:

     1- To force me to go faster in writting
     2- To have a third one reading the document, guaranteeing that it is understandable
     3- To learn some English

I would like to have all ready before the end of April, but I'm proving that my forecasting quality is very low.
